摘要

Conventional FBG sensors operating in near infrared region (Bragg wavelength 830nm) were attached on the surface and embedded in 0/90 Woven cloth/CSM E-Glass/Vinylester composite samples to investigate the strain response under static and dynamic loading situations. The measured responses of FBG sensors during loading were compared with both the readings from conventional foil type strain gauges and the results obtained from the detailed FE analysis of the sample. Further, the integrity of embedded sensors with the fibre layers of sample under dynamic loading was investigated. As a consequence, some conclusions were made on the sensitivity and durability of the use of FBG sensors fabricated by conventional writing techniques in long term health monitoring system. \ud
